Arms Exports Rise as Germany Overtakes China

March 12, 2026

Besides the historical truth that more weapons have never meant greater security, it is, in particular, the leaders at the helm of many nations around the world who give cause for concern.

In India, Turkey, Israel, Russia, Iran, China, the United States, and also in Europe, there are statesmen in decision-making positions from whom any sense of responsibility has vanished, and who regard the common good as a foreign word.

National interests shape the worldview, driven by personal ambition and a craving for power. Narcissism and egocentrism set the tone among these leaders and increasingly culminate in authoritarian acts.

Together with an ever-increasing arsenal of weapons, this forms an explosive mix whose effects are already visible in some regions.

What was meant to be prevented by modern international law about roughly 75 years ago is becoming increasingly evident. Power replaces the law, and the stronger dictates the rules. This, too, has never ended well throughout history.
